BUSH TEAM ACTS OUT PLOT OF MINORITY REPORT' Steve Marvin Madison 06 August 2003 The Capital Times & Wisconsin State Journal 9A Dear Editor: While it's true that "Dr. Strangelove" is an apt analogy for the bizarre insanity of John Poindexter's Policy Analysis Market scheme, a more recent flick, "Minority Report," best reflects the treachery of these bushwhackers. I suspect the insights Poindexter hoped to gain from selling terror futures were to be used to select targets for more "just in case" type attacks by the U.S. military. In "Minority Report," you might recall, a pre-emptive strike was ordered based on intelligence known to be untrue by those prosecuting the action. A more credible report was deliberately suppressed because it showed the "pre-emptive" maneuver to be not only unwarranted, based on national security, but a ruse to advance an entirely different agenda. Does Bush lie when he claims he never goes to the movies? Who knows. Maybe his handlers saw "Minority Report" and the Max von Sydow character aroused something powerful in Dick Cheney. If they can act out "Dr. Strangelove" and "Minority Report," I say it's time we all act out a better story line. How about something like peace candidate "Seabiscuit" Dennis Kucinich coming from the back of the pack to defeat War Admiral Bush in 2004?
