Newscast: John Poindexter is reportedly likely to soon leave post 30 July 2003 CNBC: Capital Report ALAN MURRAY, co-host: Gloria, we should also report tonight that Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News is reporting from the Pentagon that Pentagon officials are saying that retired Admiral John Poindexter is likely to soon leave his post. That's no... GLORIA BORGER, co-host: Not a surprise. MURRAY: That's no surprise, given what we talked about last night. You know, I understand--from a theoretical point of view, I understand where they were coming from in this. BORGER: You do? But to let people bet on terrorist events, you know, it's another case where common sense should have come into play and didn't. BORGER: And it sounds like Admiral Poindexter is going to take the fall for this. MURRAY: Again. BORGER: Yup. MURRAY: He did this once before. All right. When we come back, Condoleezza Rice is in the cross fire. President Bush, though, issued a resounding defense of his national security adviser today. We're going to tell you why she's on the hot seat and what the president's comments mean. BORGER: So stay with us; you're watching CAPITAL REPORT on CNBC.
