WALL STREET JOURNAL -- The head of the Information Awareness Office is 
resigning following harsh criticism of a proposed futures-trading market for 
geopolitical events in the Middle East, reports the Wall Street Journal

John Poindexter is expected to step down in the next few weeks from his post 
in the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), said a senior 
Pentagon official.

The Information Awareness Office sought $8 million from Congress to 
establish the Policy Analysis Market.

Following a spate of unfavorable publicity, legislators condemned the idea 
as "repugnant" and a waste of tax dollars.
